The original 2023-2024
The logo needs to tell the story! After describing the vision of the Houston Hockey Hall of Fame, Just Real Media provided the design. Honoring Texas, the state flag was inverted into a shield, representing the courage, passion, valor, and integrity in battle or representing the game of hockey. The silhouette of the hockey player is not just your traditional celebration, but by being placed below the stars shows the celebration for those who are no longer with us.
The "Gordie" 2025-present
In the spring of 2024, the inaugural Hockey Day In Houston took place at Saint Arnold Brewing Company which became a reality due to the connections and relationships formed at the Houston Aeros 50th reunion. After the event, the Hockey Day In Houston committee had an idea, add a Hall of Fame banquet the night before Hockey Day In Houston, allowing for alumni and honorees to celebrate the game with hockey fans in Houston. First names on the list... The Howe Family.
After inviting the Howe's back to Houston to be honored guests and inducted into the Houston Hockey Hall of Fame, Mark, Marty, and Mary Howe made a $25,000 matching donation towards hockey in Houston for Hockey Day In Houston 2025, in honor of Gordie and Colleen Howe through The Howe Foundation.
Leading up to the banquet, local Houston sculpturist, Alessandra Albin of Silver Steet Studios created an 18 inch bronze sculpture of Gordie Howe, thanks to the support of Scott and Lynda Chadbourne, Messier Financial Group, Eastwood Reality, and Joe and Claire Greenberg, to be auctioned off at a future Hockey Day In Houston event.
After seeing the sculpture, the Houston Hockey Hall of Fame committee made a decision to say thank you to the Howe family and honor Gordie in his iconic stance with the elbow up.
Although the silhouette is not shining, the Lone Star continues to symbolize those who are no longer with us!
The Howe Foundation made a second $25,000 match for Hockey Day In Houston 2026 , thus donating $50,000 towards hockey in Houston.
