Celebrating Houston Hockey History
By Honoring Houston Hockey Icons
About Us
For nearly two decades, members in the hockey community of Houston brainstormed an idea to honor those who have made contributions or an impact to the game of hockey in Houston, Texas.
In September of 2023, the World Hockey Association's Houston Aeros celebrated their 50th anniversary by honoring the AVCO Cup teams from 1973-74 and 1974-75. Unexpectedly, the alumni and their families provided the foundation to not only announce a Hall of Fame, but also create introductions to allow for community events.
The Houston Hockey Hall of Fame was established to virtually recognize and honor the tremendous contributions of professional and amateur individuals and teams who, through their dedication and tireless efforts, helped to pave the way for future generations to enjoy the great sport of ice hockey in Houston.
Many hockey and Houstonian sports fans are unaware of the numerous Hockey Hall of Famer's, Olympians, and pioneers who have at some point called Houston home. We look forward to sharing these stories and carrying on Houston's hockey history.
THE MISSION:
“To honor the excellence of those individuals who, through their exceptional endeavors both on and off the ice, have contributed in an extraordinary way to enhance the sport and image of hockey in Houston.”

The announcement of the Houston Hockey Hall of Fame and The Inaugural Class!
With 20 plus families returning to Houston for the 50th anniversary, the WHA Houston Aeros alumni held an intimate banquet to share stories of their days playing together while showcasing the tight-knit bond shared by the players, coaches, staff, broadcasters, and media and their passion for Houston.
At the banquet, it was announced that the inaugural class would showcase why hockey is the ultimate team sport sharing the same sentiment from the alumni in attendance throughout the weekend.
The inaugural class included the first two teams who brought Houston a major league hockey championship!
